CNN: Delta, Northwest To Face Few Antitrust Hurdles

"The department then has 30 days to request documents from the firms, known as a "second request." There is no deadline for firms to comply, but Delta and Northwest officials have made clear they would aim to do so quickly.
Nonetheless, one industry insider said that, given the unprecedented size and market share of a combined Delta-Northwest carrier, that process could take up to 90 days, or longer.
After both firms have complied with the document request, the Justice Department will have 30 days to tell the airlines whether it intends to challenge the proposed combination."
